Changes...

Another round of layoffs have hit Destrukto. I hate that it happened so close to the holidays, although losing one's job is never a pleasant experience. A few of the people already have new jobs, which is encouraging. I'm hoping that the others find employment quickly.

Part of the 'reorganization' (5.0, at this point) involves physically moving people within the office as Big Boss deems appropriate. BB deemed it necessary for me to move back into my old office, which I left grudgingly only two years ago.

I have been back in my 'office' for less than 24 hours now. I am shocked to confess this, but feel it is necessary:

I miss my cubicle like crazy.

I know, I know. I should be ecstatic about privacy and importance and oooh! The DOOR! But I'm not. Part of it is that the re-gaining of this space was the direct result of my friend losing his job.

It's also either too quiet or too loud, depending on forklift activity in the warehouse behind me. I'll give it through the holidays. If I'm still unhappy then, I plan to request a move back to cubicle land.

I know, I know. Surely I'll adjust before then.

I hope.

You WILL adjust, but because you are a caring person, it'll be harder for you.

Hang in there!

Aw man. The battling of emotions must be tough....to gain back an office a hthe expense of someone else losing their job.

ENJOY the door. Some people are very envious of it.

Survivor's guilt. You didn't MAKE the guy lose his job - he just got laid off and it's only practical for someone to use that office. Why not you? There, you should be feeling right at home by now.

I would totally drive all the way to your office just to have a door

Oooh, that is hard. Always tough to be happy in the face of someone else's loss. Plus, holy desk top Batman, look at the undiluted stress of layoffs. It's totally okay to feel a bit squidgy for a while.

Oh Renn, this sucks big time. I'm so sorry you're all going through it. So, you don't think I'm weird for not moving into my boss'/friend's old office then, huh?

When I was in the workforce, I could never shut my office door. Claustrophobic I guess, but I felt like I was interacting more when I could see and hear my surroundings.

Sorry your friend lost their job, but somebody would get the office it might as well be someone that was a friend.

I bet if I went to interview your friend, he/she would be most pleased that Rennratt was the one to score the left-behind office.

That being said, layoffs suck so bad. And it seems like things are going to get worse before they get better.

And with THAT being said, I'm so thankful you weren't one of the layoffees.

I'm sure your friend doesn't blame you, and I hope you either adjust to the room, or can move back easily. Good luck to all those still looking!
