Manic Monday
Or not, seeings how I have the next couple of days off.
One of the wonderful things about being a long time Destrukto employee is a mythical creature known as time off. I currently receive a total of 18 days off, plus holidays. Since my vacation and holiday time was combined this year, I 'saved' much of it for year end. You know, just in case.
Now, with a grand total of 6 weeks before year end, I have eight days left to spend. Days, I might add, that do not carry over into the next year. That's probably for the best. Next year, I have a total of 25 days (plus holidays) to 'spend'.
I woke this morning to a slight, steady drizzle of rain. Since we are mere weeks from being in a complete drought, rain is an answer to prayer. I took The Nooze to school, and settled in for a day full of 'round the house' chores.
Then the rain stopped. Completely.
As many of you may (or may not) know, my 'extended family' here at La Casa includes three dogs. Two of these dogs are older; one of the two is in what you may call failing health. Her name is Equinox, and she is twelve years old.
Equinox is a lab/husky mix. Her once silky fur has begun to fall out, her once able body is now crippling with arthritis. We are partners in pain, Equie (pronounced "eek-ee") and I. When the rain stopped, I knew that a small walk - just to the end of the road - would be good for both of us.
Since the air outside wasn't particularly cold, I hooked Equie to her leash and headed outside. We walked briskly up the hill to the stop sign and turned around. The walk only lasted ten minutes, and did both of us a world of good.
Until we were halfway down the hill...when the skies opened back up and rain came pouring down in buckets. Torrential, ice cold rain.
Naturally, it was the one time in forever that I wasn't wearing a jacket. Or a sweat shirt. Or a sweater of any kind.
Oh, no. I was wearing a white t-shirt. I am pleased to say that most of my neighbors work, and missed any potential 'show' that may have been performed as a result...
Happy Monday, Y'all!

Enjoy your extra few days off! You've done more with your day than I have. It's so overcast and blah here, I didn't even get a shower until after noon! (no motivation at all!)
You got caught in the rain in a white t-shirt and NO ONE SAW YOU???
MMMMANNN!!! You're LUCKY! I always get caught when stuff like that happens.
I hope you enjoy your vacation time. It's nice to have some extra time in between the holidays....
Destrukto? I wonder if they have a contract with Conglomo? ;-)
**Tossing you a cyber-string of colorful beads.**
Rick, I am so uncool (and old, perhaps) that it took me a good five minutes or so to figure your comment out.
I DID laugh, though.
SEXEH, SEXEH!
MMmff!! Hee!!
But say, how's the DOG???
Geeze, Renn, it wasn't THAT warm today, was it?
I love wet T shirt contests!!
Happy days off!!
Stuff like that always happens to me, that's why we live where we don't have any neighbors LOL
ps thanks for the tip, I got it!!
:o)
That's awesome! I want to work for Destrukto!
p.s. How do you get away with just taking one dog out for a walk? Don't the other two have a fit and then make you feel guilty with the sad eyes when you come back?
Damn. I hate missing shows like that, Renn. Maybe next time...
