Today was the last day in the life of Heath Ledger.

Reports, information, misinformation and rumors are flooding the airwaves.

How he was found. What he was wearing. How, exactly, he passed away.

They are missing key information in this story.

This man, regardless of everything else, was a daddy to a little girl.

She will not have his protection, his wisdom, his care as she grows older.

He will not see her fall in love. He will not see her drive a car. He will not be able to spout random nonsense to her over how inappropriate her outfit is.

Perhaps, at the end of the day, the media should take a long, hard look at itself.

The information and trash they are spreading today is the legacy left to his child.

A legacy, no less, that his partner/ex/wife will have to filter through as this child grows older.

May they consider that prior to doing any more damage.

TMZ is doing their best to sort out the false from the factual. God bless them, because my first thought was for his daughter, too.

They say he had been sober for over a year.

In the end, it doesn't matter if he was sober or not. The little girl doesn't care about that right now. Renn, you took the words right out of my mouth.

I always take this kind of thing with a grain of salt until I hear all the facts.............after the autopsy I will believe what I hear. Matilda must be crushed :(

So true.. I'm so out of the loop I didn't even know he had a child. Somehow that makes his death a lot worse.

The response to this sort of thing at an AA meeting is straightforward, usually: "There, but for the Grace of God, go I."

That's pretty much the sum of what was said this morning, on that topic. God bless his kid, man.

I thought of his baby girl first too.

I wrote something very similar last night. It breaks my heart to think of his baby girl. It doesn't matter at all how he died; just that she'll never know her daddy.

Couldn't have said it better myself, Renn.

It's those thoughts that keep me running some days. you know? The chance to see my kids grow up keeps me going....

And Heath now can't. His daughter is the poorer of course.

I can't watch news, or what passes for news, anymore, because of the fantastical nature of so much of it. The dirty laundry, the innuendo, the suppositions! It's all too much.

Amen. Didn't have much of an opinion about him, but when I heard he had a little girl, the same thoughts ran through my head. Well said.

The media bastards will still have their day when the autopsy results are announced. This is one reason I quit TV and went into radio.

Typical media BS...they have to dig and speculate and smear and destroy as much as possible.

Unfortunately, the media seldom stop to consider what damage they may do. It is all to the purpose of making money and sensation, Renn. I hate that.

It's terrible the way the media sensationalizes tragedies like that...

Damn skippy! And for all the other sensalionalized media out there, too, this can definitely apply!
