Killer Brownies
The holidays are rapidly approaching. As a result, I am sharing one of my favorite stand by recipes, which I use for special events and family gatherings. I also use the bake time as one on one time with my Nooze, who (at almost SIX!) really enjoys the mixing and measuring of ALL OF THAT CHOCOLATE.
For the record, I totally stole this recipe from the Raleigh News and Observer. It appeared in May, 2004. This recipe was created by Leah Dewey of Cary, NC. Mrs. Dewey calls these "Candy Bar Brownies". My first encounter with them deemed them worthy of a better title. Thus, they were renamed. Behold, the Killer Brownies!
I am not listing the calories, fat grams, etc. This is a recipe to be enjoyed - in moderation. Just eat small pieces...
"Killer Brownies"
1 cup (2 sticks) REAL butter
4 oz. unsweetened chocolate
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 pinch salt
1 cup flour
4 (2.15 oz) Milky Way candy bars
4 (2 oz) Snickers candy bars
Preheat oven to 350. Grease 9x13 inch pan.
In heavy sauce pan, melt butter and unsweetened chocolate. Remove from heat. Add sugar and mix well. Add eggs one at a time, stirring after each addition. Add vanilla and salt. Mix in flour. Chop candy bars into (approximately) 8 pieces. Add candy bar pieces to chocolate mixture. Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 30 minutes. Cut into small pieces, as this is very rich.
You can trade out the candy bars, but the 'solid, filled' candy bars are better. I have had some luck with Butterfingers and 3 Musketeer bars, but do not recommend peanut butter cups. If you run short on candy bars, throw in some chocolate chips instead. They work wonders, without overdoing the chocolate.

Oh, and guess what? Zack was bit by a snake, just like your Wheatie! He lives, but isn't teribly happy a bout life right now. Oy, the swelling!
Those sound yummy, and if I A) could bake, and B) hadn't turned off my stove because of my war with the gas company, I would make some.
I'm not much on sweets. I'd rather stuff myself on steak than save room for dessert. But ever since I was four, I have been willing to sin and slander for brownies.
I think I had an O just reading this.
My God. That recipe should be called "Diabetes in a Baking Pan"
I bet its totally delicious
