Weekend Rambling
The calendar may not have declared it spring here, but the weather outside is telling us otherwise. Currently, at 5.05 EST, Chachi and The Nooze are outside. Flying kites.
The heat and air have both been cut off, and all of the windows are wide open. It is a balmy 60-ish in the house, and I am at ease with my surroundings.
------------------------------------------------------
We spent the afternoon in a big box home improvement store, choosing (and buying!) paint for our living room. After nearly six years in the same home, I have tired of the 'just sell it' white that still covers the house. We opted for a shade known as "Vanilla Bean" by Eddie Bauer. It seems to be somewhere between a soft yellow and off white. (Side note to My Friend: No, it was not located between Hepatitis Yellow and Hooker Red. It is a softer color: think Neosporin Cream.) Now...we wait for a full day off together. Or a Sam's Club size bottle of Vivarin...
------------------------------------------------------
I am currently drinking German coffee, which I purchased at Aldi. The brand name is "Grandessa" - which, for all I know, could mean "Total Crap" in German. I like it for something different. If anyone out there is familiar with this brand (or style - what defines "German coffee"?), input would be greatly appreciated.
------------------------------------------------------
Since the weather is so balmy and relaxed, I have declared tonight a "make it yourself or STARVE" night. And yes, this extends to my six year old. She's tough; the peanut butter and Cole Slaw are both within easy reach. (It wouldn't surprise me if she combined them; she eats Cole Slaw on ham sandwiches. With carrots. And black olives. And kosher pickles. Say it with me now: Aaaaah!)
------------------------------------------------------
In further news: It seems that the Site meter Server that covers ME crashed a few days ago. Everything has allegedly been fixed, but counts are still at Zero and Null here at La Casa. I'm feeling kinda abandoned here, people. Do me a favor, would ya? Just post a note so I know you've been around.
------------------------------------------------------
Halo scan based websites are still refusing me access to comment. I can't even see the titles to post comments, no matter what I try. For the time being, I will stick to commenting by email. If I don't have your email address, I will keep my smart mouthed comments to myself. For now, at least.
------------------------------------------------------
In the mean time, I am going to grab my book, wander outside, and read.

Is there anything in the world better than the start of spring, opening up windows, and letting out all the winter funk? I submit that there isn't.
Sorry about your Hell-scan problems. Kenju had the same problem, and they went away after awhile. Just keep visiting! (Wait, who am I kidding? As long as the trivia game is at my site, Renn's there! :) )
I'm here, Renn! Keep at it; Hellscan will let you in eventually. Wasn't today beautiful? My bride sure did luck out!
My Tibetan Magnolia is budding out, and a couple of the buds are showing color at the tips. Theearly ornamental cherry and plum trees are in bloom. I worked on the car ouside without a coat, with robins chirping in the background. Yeah, Spring is apon us.
Got to remember to set the clock ahead tonight.
Yay for Spring!
And thanks for the Cooking With Nooze report, I now need a latenight snack to reset my gag reflex.
Shall I revert to Blogger comments for ya? I'd do that, you know, if you asked.
It was beautiful yesterday, Renn. Today....not as much. Be glad you enjoyed it!
My 9 year old and your 6 year old seem to have similar tastes. And, as for the cole slaw on everything, she must be a West Virginian at heart. I'm an import myself, so I don't abide by the "slaw must be on everything, including hot dogs and BBQ" mentality around here, but Nooze must be an honorary citizen of WV. LOL.
I drink Grandessa...I am addicted to German coffee, having spent a year there. Of course, I could buy the same stuff I had in Germany at the local commissary, but the prices are OUTRAGEOUS...so I settled for the German store.
Grandessa is not a German word, just FYI - it may be Italian or Spanish, but not German.
The coffee, on the other hand, has been roasted, German-style. What that style is, exactly, I have no clue. But I do know it tastes much different than your standard everyday American coffee. It's "thicker" (if that even makes any sense). Stronger, richer...just what I am addicted to. Terrible. But, to my credit, I only have 1 cup a day. Oh...and my husband likes to use it to make espresso with!!!!
I found the Aldi store today Renn.
German coffeeeeeee! Thanks for the directions - I am one happy camperette. (Linda -looks like I'm on my own with the coffee thing now!)
Ahem - OK - enthusiasmagasm over, today was spent at Adventure Landing with the Things - mini golfing and such. Too good a day to spend doing anything BUT playing.
Renn, you have not been abandoned. However, if you insist on posting Nooze's menu, you may very well be.
EW.
I have not as of yet ventured into the Aldi, mostly cuz I had no idea what the H it was.
German coffee huh? perhaps it's roasted in really good, strong beer. That's the rumor I'm going to run with.
Most excellent weather for kite flying, foshizzle.
Are the carrots raw on that sandwich? Otherwise it sounds like a variation of sauerkraut on corned beef and to that I say AAAAHH!
We have our windows open too and the daffodils are just starting to bloom. I do love spring. Even though I must do the big clean. Not tomorrow though.
I'm HERE. Actually, I stop by at least once a day, no matter what the Sitemeter people say, those bastards. They're a bunch of filthy liars, anyway.
Since I had a stinkin' 15 yo boy staying in my house for 4 days, I'd say it's high time my place got aired out. Our weather is gorgeous as well. I've got the AC on in the car! Woot!
It's like Horton Hears a Who, Renn: I am here, I am here, I am here!
Grandessa is a great coffee. Strong but not bitter. Good choice.
