The Breakdown
Psoriasis is an expensive auto-immune disorder. As a result, treating Psoriatic Arthritis can be a costly, and frustrating, endeavor. Thanks to recent changes in my health insurance policy, life is just a little easier these days.
The current breakdown in cost/services is encouraging:
Humira injections: $30 copay *(2 injections/monthly fee)
Lodine: $10 copay
Mandatory twice weekly deep tissue massage for an $8 co-pay: PRICELESS

Hmmm.. wonder if my health insurance would cover a massage???
OMG - lucky girl.....but lucky only for the massage. I sure wish you didn't NEED them, if you know what I mean.
I realize it's not worth it, but $8 massages? At least you get a little sun with your rain!!!
That's very good, renn. I wish you didn't need the massages too, but it's great that your ins. covers them. Mine doesn't....:-/
Life is hard, but there are those little silver linings that make things worthwhile.
Renn will you ever be able to come off meds or will you always be on them?
Thanks for sticking with me through my extreme blogging slump
Thank goodness for even the smallest of perks, huh? Sorry you have to deal with the other crap to get them, though.
That's awesome they'll cover massages, ours keeps covering less, and less, and less....
I'm lucky if they'll spring for stitches after surgery on our plan!
Hm. I should have a talk with you about Psoriatic insurances. Although, honestly, I only said that so I could use the phrase "psoriatic insurances."
My main treatment is the tanning salon... sad, but true; it's the only thing that works.
SWEET! Massages two times per week? Now if you could only get rid of everything else and keep that benefit, it would be SUPER SWEET!
I'm so glad your insurance changed and that you now get this benefit. Even your co-pays don't seem excessive.
I know it sucks to have to deal with this, but at least you're not having to fight the insurance company over the treatment you need. Yay.
