The Dilemma

I have just learned that my all time favorite Guilty Pleasure, DEF LEPPARD, will be playing at the Creek on the Fourth of July. At first glance, this is not a problem. Grass passes run somewhere around twenty bucks, and the Creek is maybe a twenty minute drive.
Herein lies the rub: They have been paired with Journey. Journey! The Bane of my musical existence, the yodelers of rock and roll fame! The pious, the pompous, the screaming wannabes! THAT Journey. The Journey that failed to house the ego of one Steve Perry. The Journey of Greatest Hits fame, which I was forced to listen to ad nauseum in high school.
If Journey was scheduled as the opening act - and face it - egos like that don't just up and walk away - I could try and just be late. But THEN I would run the risk of locked gates, no parking...etc, etc.
If Def Leppard was the opening act, I could enjoy a heckuva show, then leave before the opening screams of...whatever makes me cringe and shake...begins. But THEN I would run the risk of missing any encore.
I don't think I can do it. See, while both are possibilities, that is ALL they are. The demi-gods at the Creek, in their infinite wisdom, have refused to specify exactly which band is the opening act.
I fear that, as always, I shall be reduced to I-40 kareoke with DL's Vault screaming in the background. Stupid Journey. They ruin everything!

The solution is simple!
If Journey is the opening act...go drink expensive beer!
If DL is the opening act....then you can leave early and go home and drink cheap beer!
I like one, count 'em, ONE, Journey song.
Brenda - one problem. I don't drink. I love me some sweet tea, but it ain't strong enough to drown out the yowls.
WN - which one? They ALL make me scream!
You can always spend an hour in the port-a-potty...
Who in blue blazes paired THOSE TWO BANDS? They seem like Yin and Yang, and not in the happy spiral-fishie kind of way.
Stick with the karaoke is my opinion, and save the twenty for a new CD or something.
I feel your pain. As much as I love (and have loved for years!) the Leps, I don't think I could endure JOURNEY. Just their name makes me cringe!
