Thank You
A warm, heartfelt thanks to all of you in Bloggerland. Losing a parent is extremely difficult; knowing that I was in the hearts and prayers of so many means so much to me.
I will be flying back to North Carolina early tomorrow morning. It may take another day or two before I post again, as I have slept a total of 13 hours since last Sunday night.
I will be updating you on the visit, the preparations, and the funeral - which turned out to be a raucous affair, as ALL of my cousins came in from out of state. Screaming laughter (and pictures! At a FUNERAL!) did indeed take place.
My mother would have been proud.

I am so glad to know it was a genial affair, Renn, since your mother wanted it that way. Funerals nearly always turn out to be family reunions, and we are heard to say, "Let's not wait for the next funeral to get together", but somehow, we often do just that.
Sleep first.
Then sleep.
Then sleep knowing we love you.
Laughter and death belong together. I suspect your mother knew that. I know my grandfather did.
Rest well, and bless you.
The blog is totally superfluous.
And we are proud of you. Because somehow, I know you did her justice. Sleep. Rest. Take care.
We love you and will be here when you return.
Ah, Renn, we're just glad to be able to help in some small way. Rest up, sweetpea, there will be plenty of time for stories later.
Warm thoughts. Now comes the quiet time. Rest, relax, recuperate. We'll be here.
It is the 4th anniversary of my Dad's passing today. I know the pain, but the memories help.
Love you, Renn.
What they said.
Sweetie, get some rest and we will look forward to seeing the pictures :)
Pictures at a funeral...not something most people know about, but Sue and I know it WELL...we come from a long line of funeral picture takers. WE don't do it, of course...but hey, thanks to an aunt who took pictures at my stepdad's funeral, I was able to create a decent layout (no, there was no "lying in state" photo included...thankyouverymuch.
I'll be waiting for your post.
Take your time. We'll still be here when you are ready.
It was a great funeral, I'm one of the crazy out-of-state cousins who drove up for it. Lots of laughter, yes a picture or two, but a lot of memories were shared and she would have wanted it that way! love her and miss her... get some rest cuz... I need a vacation, hows the weather down there?
Sleep and heal, Renn. It takes a while.
I am glad there was laughter as you were worried about doing so for your mom. Most important for you to do is taking care of you.
So glad you could be with a lot of loved ones during such a trying time. It seems like that's the only time our family ever gets together too. But when I go, I hope the people at my funeral will be able to laugh and appreciate life as well.
Happy Halloween, Ms Renn
